The breathtaking cream lehenga, embellished with pearls and aari work, was made by master craftsmen from UP and Hyderabad under the designer’s keen eye. It took four months to lend ageless elegance to this ensemble. The pearls were sourced from Hyderabad; the complimenting aari work has been kept subtle to hold up the sophisticated colour palette. Traditional artistes from Lucknow embroidered the stunning lace.
Know moreSakina Ahmed is a Bangalore-based designer who started out humbly, designing out of her garage with a single artisan. Her eye for design, flair for the traditional, knowledge of textiles and love for zardozi catapulted her to creating a multi-national designer label Needle Eye, catering to clients in the Middle-East, Europe, US, South-East Asia and India. Sakina unhesitatingly admits that “my brain is singularly limited to clothes designing.”
The exquisite line which she calls individual artwork for individual clients is a result of years of hard work. The USP is complete customisation. “We follow a process I call channelization. We keep the customer involved at every stage of dress-making,” Sakina explains. Expertise in embroidery, especially zardozi work, sets the label apart.
Dedicated master craftsmen who excel in needlework create exquisite and intricate designs to embellish the range. The highpoint is the unique collection of embroidered ensembles. Be it saris, lehengas, anarkalis or even fusion dresses, the artisans embroider art forms. Sakina’s personal expertise is in the ageless zardozi work which she uses to establish tradition and richness in her label. The finery is tailor-made to suit all occasions and purses.
